Palembang is not known for cultural tourism and religious tourism only. The city of Palembang is very popular with its unique food delights. For culinary tourism lovers, the city of Palembang is a favorite tourist spot. 

Some of these foods may have been sold in other cities but it is better if we eat directly in the original place. Here are some typical types of food that you should try when you visit Palembang.

Pempek

Who does not know this delicious typical Palembang food? Pempek is made from fish, flour and sago. Generally, this pempek is served with a delicious thick cuko. 

Pempek has developed into many kinds, for example there is pempek submarine, pempek lenjer, pempek curly, pempek adaan and others. Although in some other areas pempek is easy to find, but try pempek directly made by a native of Palembang, it will definitely be more delicious.

Tekwan

Tekwan is made almost similar to the material used to make pempek and tekwan. The difference is that the shape of the tekwan is made into small rounds like fish balls. 

Tekwan is served with shrimp broth with a sprinkling of celery, fried onions, a sprinkling of scallions, vermicelli, pieces of bengkoang, or ear mushrooms.

Laksan

The culinary specialties of Palembang are like pempek lenjer which has been sliced ​​1 cm thick. But the difference is, Laksan is given not with cuko but using coconut milk.

Pindang Patin

Pindang is a typical Palembang food that is popular not only pempek. The flavors are delicious and spicy, making those who taste it certainly like it. 

The main ingredient of this food is catfish made with spices such as red chili, cayenne pepper, garlic, onion, pineapple, and other spices. Pindang is deliciously eaten with rice and the addition of sambal tempoyak or mango sauce.

Mie Celor

Mie Celor is noodles served with thick coconut milk and combined with shrimp broth and vegetables such as bean sprouts. 

This typical Palembang noodle has a thick shape like udon. Unlike ordinary noodles, Mie Celor has a thick and very tasty sauce.

Martabak Har

It's like a regular egg martabak, but the difference is that Martabak Har only uses an egg wrapped in martabak skin. Martabak har sauce is a curry sauce that has a strong spice taste and is combined with potatoes and meat.

The origin of the name Martabak HAR is the menu of the HAR restaurant. RM HAR itself is taken from the abbreviation of the owner's name, Haji Abdul Rojak. All of Palembang certainly know about this restaurant, because its strategic location is on Sudirman protocol road.

Tempoyak

Tempoyak is made with a combination of sauteed durian meat with chili and onion filling. Tempoyak has a texture like a chili sauce and is eaten as a complement to food. Tempoyak is loved by Palembang residents as a combination to enjoy pindang catfish or other foods. Tempoyak has a savory and unique taste.

Leaving

This typical Palembang dish is made from processed fish combined with beaten eggs. This preparation is then placed on a banana leaf and made by roasting. Lenggang has a delicious and savory taste, plus the characteristic aroma of roasted banana leaves.

Maksuba Cake

Maksuba cake is a typical Palembang cake that has the main ingredients of duck eggs and sweetened condensed milk. In making the eggs needed can be up to about 28 eggs. The dough is then processed like layer cake dough. The flavors are delicious, sweet, and legit. at first glance like with layer cake, but the maksuba cake has a different structure and taste. 

This cake is often given during holidays or honors. This food is named the eight-hour cake because of the process of making it takes 8 hours. This cake has a formation that is almost similar to Maksuba, what makes this eight-hour cake different is the process of making it. An eight-hour cake is made by steaming for 8 hours.
